A MAN IS NOTHING WITHOUT HIS TEAM
Trace was the best the Navy SEALs had to offer until his twin brother was killed-in-action. Now he's one bad day from a dishonorable discharge because of a deadly obsession. Pain and guilt have blinded him except for the sweet relief he found one night in the arms of a fling he'd never see again. She was smart; the sexiest thing he'd ever touched, but she disappeared.
UNTIL A MISSION--OR A WOMAN--CHANGES EVERYTHING

As a fan of Cristin Harber's Titan series, I was delighted to find she also has a Spin-off to this incredible series. Delta: Retribution is the start to this new series. It has some of the same favorite characters from her Titan series and it too is written as a stand alone, though is apart of a series. From start to finish it is filled with suspense, combustible chemistry and unforgettable characters. Cristin has an amazing ability to combine these features in a way that tells a complete story, yet propels possibilities for future stories as well.
In this book, you meet Trace Reeves. He is a SEAL who is recruited for Delta team of the Titan Group. His career is spiralling after losing his twin brother in Afghanistan. His sole focus is on retribution, that is until he meets Jared Westin and is sent to South America to retrieve a high-value-target.
PS- Jeffrey Kafer does an excellent job of narrating this incredible story. His performance only enhances Cristin's work with this amazing series. I can't wait for more!

Delta Retribution edition by Cristin Harber Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I really liked the first books of the Titan series. The characters had panache, a little depth and the action was sort of believable.....not so much anymore. The writing is rough, the dialogue just doesn't flow. The operations are so outlandish, I cringed. Anyone who has spent a minute in uniform knows things just don't work like they are written. For example, Navy SEALS are Navy....no one would call them a Soldier. They are Sailors. It just seems like there wasn't any research or care taken to get easy things right. Ugh...
I'd give it a 4.5 star rating. I love Cristin Harber. The Titan series was such a delight to read. She really developed those characters and made them so lovable, even though they were all a little damaged in some way. However this book had a great premise to the story. I liked where she was heading with both of the characters, Trace and Marlena. But I felt as though their stories were not really explained as much. I feel like they were underdeveloped. They had a one night stand and meet a few months later in the jungle of South America because she was kidnapped. Marlena is still in college earning her Bachelors and Masters and does some contract work for the government. They seem to hit it off, but she is always leaving Trace hanging. Trace has his own issues to work through. His twin brother has died and he can't seem to cope with it. He has pissed off his SEAL team until Titan wants to recruit him for their Delta team. They have their own issues but get together and fall in love after having sex, what, like three times. They both don't really get to know each other. Then they both get abducted again and Titan rescues them. It needed a little longer of a story line. That's what bothers me about this book. Otherwise, it was a good and quick read.
It could be read as a stand alone book, but to get a feel for the character, I highly recommend the Titan Series before embarking on this short novella.
I love the way this author doles out just enough information that we have to think for ourselves about what is going on and where the story is headed. It was edgy and exciting with plenty of thought provoking twists and surprises, incredible characters with flaws and damaging pasts they struggle to grow through, I couldn't put this book down.
After a one night stand leaves Marlena confused and frustrated she finds herself in a frightening predicament when she is kidnapped. Firmly believing someone will be sent for her she desperately tries to give her kidnappers just enough to keep them happy and herself alive until help arrives.
Trace Reeves' life has been turned upside down after losing his brother in Afghanistan. He has only one goal, to retrieve his brother's dog tags. Then a one night stand leaves him confused and uptight when the woman he spent the night with just vanishes without a trace. A second chance to save himself and his career has him embarking on a dangerous mission to save a kidnap victim that the US government desperately needs. He can't believe his eyes when he realizes who their target is. Thrown together, Marlena and Trace must work together with Delta Force to find the one thing that could bring the world to its knees.
This was my first book by this author so I had no idea what to expect. Trace is a SEAL who is in trouble with his CO and team. His twin brother was killed by insurgents and his dog tags were never found. Trace can't get past his grief and has focused on finding the dog tags no matter what the cost. He hooks up with a one night stand Mallory in Germany and she ducks out when he goes to start the shower. Several weeks later he has become part of Delta team and is in South America looking for a kidnapped woman (high value target). Imagine his surprise when it turns out to be his one night stand who is really Marlana. She is a employed by the government creating a bio weapon. Trace and Mar have off the charts chemistry but neither is looking for a relationship. The story takes you through all the trials they endure while learning to trust each other and find their way to love.
Delta Retribution is a novella so a quick easy read. I liked the characters and want to get to know them more. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Since this is a spin off from the Titan series I guess I will be picking those up as well)
These characters were both broken and their backstories were interesting and realistically compelled them to do the things they did. The characters together had spark/fire (broken but fitting together), the amount of sex was right. Trace was so dark in the opening pages that his transformation when he met her was a little more jarring than hers (a bit of a seesaw in being with him or not). In fiction, I expect a bit of unrealistic stuff, but the improbabilities just kept layering on top of each other, and eventually it got in the way of my enjoyment of the story. I think the events were a little too rapid-fire and could have been developed better.
